Introduction: I Dream of Jeannie- Magic Carpet and Bottle

I had so much fun making this costume with my dad. We used PVC piping to construct the framing for both the bottle and the frame for the rug. The bottle also had cardboard to extend out the ends and give definition to the upper portion. Chicken wire was used in creating the shape for the bottle and also the legs/waist/backside.Wheels are on the bottle to give the whole thing movement. The rug and legs/waist were attached to the rug/pvc by heavy duty wire. There is a hole cut in the middle of the rug were the center of the body is as well. I would first get into the bottle by opening the hinged gate and locking it around me, then I would lift the rug/feet over my head where (when wearing 5 inch heels) the waist with the fake legs would match the height with my natural waist. Inside there is a band so that it would hit against my things and move when I started walking inside the costume so I could keep my arms up as a genie would, and not to hold onto the carpet to steer it. (see video)  We worked on constructing of this costume for over a month and 1/2. I loved watching people's reactions to the movement and when they realized it wasn't my real legs on the carpet. Many people thought it was mechanically operated.
