I entered an essay contest a few years ago that was sponsored by Il de France cheese. The Grand prize was a cheese basket filled with over $500.00 of their delicious gourmet cheeses as well as an collection of Il De France paraphanalia.

Well, I had the perfect story which I will share the details here!

I met my husband at a local beer festival (the Bavarian Beer Festival held every year in Barnesville, PA). I had been there for about 3 hours when he showed up with some friends. They sat right behind us.... the backs of our chairs touching. I happened to be eating a plateful of cheese (to go with my delicious beer!) and my future husband kept tapping me on the shoulder and kept telling me how much he LOVED cheese! I must admit.... this was getting quite annoying!! After about 5 minutes of this I finally gave in and started feeding him my cheese!! Well, that sealed the deal! We struck up a conversation and found out we had much in common.... and started to date! That was on July 8, 1977 and we got married on May 5, 1979! This picture shows us 4 years later celebrating at the real Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. Now, how many people can say they were brought together by cheese???

Step 1: Re-creating the Magic Moment

So, now, to celebrate, many years later, we re-created our cheese feeding frenzy using our favorite gourmet cheeses! The prize basket also included a beautiful set of cheese knives, a cheese board, Ile de France coasters, a CD of French music and so many other great goodies!!!
