Supplies
- Clock Mechanism + Battery
- Ikea Table mat – square (unfortunately ikea doesn’t have the same design anymore)
- White foam poster Board
- Craft knife
- Decorative craft tape
- Spray Adhesive
- Double sided tape
- Spray paint
Step 1: STEP -1 – BACKING
Cut the Foam board to the size & shape of the place mat. Its approx. 14×14 inches.
Step 2: STEP – 2
Mark the center point. This table mat is a perfect square and so its very easy to find the center point. Just draw diagonal lines connecting four corners. The intersecting point is your center. Make a hole at the center.
Step 3: STEP – 3 – PUNCTURE AT THE CENTER
In the same way as above, plot and make a hole on the foam board at center.
Step 4: STEP – 4
Spray adhesive on the foam board and glue the mat on top of the foam poster board.
Step 5: STEP – 5 – ATTACH THE MECHANISM
Add double sided tape on the clock mechanism and attach it from behind the poster board into the hole at center. Make sure its fixed straight and square.
Secure the mechanism with washers & lock nut provided in the kit. Next, attach the hour, minute and seconds hand. To bring some contrast, I spray painted the hour & minute hand with rose gold and the second hand with red. Then, added a decorative yellow tape on the background to brighten it up a little. You can add any pattern or text in bright color to pep up the clock in just the way you like.
