Ice Cream Pint Lock

Intro: Ice Cream Pint Lock

They
say that necessity is the mother of invention and while I don’t claim to have invented the idea of a pint lock, this is the first one I’ve ever seen out of the wood. In addition I love how outrageous it looks with that giant old school padlock on it!

This is made with some soft maple, a small brass hinge and the padlock of your choosing! Just make sure that it’s not too heavy, or you will not be able to keep your prize upright! (mine was right on the brink…) - See more at: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/105519#sthash.8Ra3Doub.dpuf

Nice!

If I did this in my house, my wife would just cut the bottom open with a utility knife!

and then fill it with water and glue the bottom back on!

This did little for the security of my dessert, but I did upset my spouse. So there is that! :)

This is really a beautiful object. It's also hilarious.

Thanks! I like doing impractical woodworking! :)

You just made my day :D

awesome build! i'm gonna show my gf's dad this project. he totally has everything you were using in his shop and loves quirky projects lol

There's nothing a pair of bull cutters and a torch can't do!!!!

Cool 'ible, good job on the win!

nice

but i will open the cup from bottom

Pints of ice cream don't usually make it into the freezer at my house . . . We're bad at self control. Who knows, maybe this could help!

It's nice to see someone following lock-out tag-out procedures in the home.

I'd tip it upside down and dribble some water into the key slot of the lock so that it freezes and you can't open it till it thaws.....along with the ice cream.

nuts just plain nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! like a cloth chastity belt

Icecream that lasts long enough to go in the freezer? Madness!
