Intro: Impossible Sticky Note

I still can't comprehend it. How is it possible to create this mesmerizing creation from one sticky note? From start to finish this bit of magic is three cuts and one fold away from being a normal sticky note. Before you follow the Instructable, try to figure this puzzle out on your own using only the images in this step. Get a pad (or two) of sticky notes and experiment until you finally figure it out (or give up).

Please note that this is not my original idea. It was passed around at my school, but was nowhere to be seen on the Internet or Instructables.

STEP 1: Materials and Tools

There are only three necessary supplies for this project:

  • a square piece of paper (such as a sticky note)
  • a pair of scissors
  • a bit of magic

STEP 2: Cut and Fold

First, fold the paper in half. Make one cut on one half (in the middle), and two on the other half (dividing the paper into thirds).

STEP 3: Magic...

Now fold one of the flaps straight into the air, 90 degrees. Fold the opposite flap 90 degrees in the opposite direction. Position the final product so that there is a center flap sticking straight up... and that's it.

  3. Are they still stumped?- Here's a hint If you are using a sticky note, color the sticky part with a marker and then refold. If you aren't using a sticky, draw a line on one end and then refold.
