Intro: Improve Your Bedroom

This is my design for a small, simple bedroom. I designed it in google sketchup, and I will attach the file for those wanting to check it out.

This first image is looking through the door into the room.

STEP 1: Concept

This room is supposed to be a nice relaxing place, good for studying and relaxing. There is room to do work, go on your computer, and sit back watching television.

These pictures are looking at the desk.

STEP 2: Bed

The bed has a wooden frame, and has drawers built into the sides. These can be used to store clothes, work, etc.

The rest of these pictures show the whole room, and the window with roller blinds.

I'd like to offer these constructive criticisms:

1) You have a wall mounted television, which might be used as an external monitor for the laptop, so it could be mounted directly over the desk portion.

2) You might consider making the desk portion a few slats thinner in order to give some clearance for the chair, and a generous are for the person who is opening the side drawers.

3) it seems that the drawers in the end of the bed would intersect with the drawers on the side of the bed. Perhaps a better use of the end of the bed would be a built in bookshelf.

Overall, it's a nice design! I like it!

Thanks for the feedback. All good points, originally just made this as a design for my own bedroom space but there is always room for improvement. Bookshelf is a nice idea!

Pretty much assemble on sight, when the stuff is broken down into sections to be put together they should be able to fit through the door.

This looks like a really nice use of a small space, with wooden serenity. One thing you might want to consider is how would you get the furniture into the room. Assemble on site? Could it come apart, in case you move? Nice work!
