Intro: Indian Pasta (Khandvi)

Indian pasta is commonly known as khandvi in India.. it is very tasty dish.. my aunty taught me this recipe..

INGREDIENTS-
1 cup gram flour
1 cup butter milk
2 cups water
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1 chilli, 2 cloves garlic, small piece of ginger( half of total garlic) => make paste

Filling-
ground coconut
few chopped coriander leaves

Tempering-
2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds



STEP 1:

METHOD-
i
n a large bowl mix gram flour, buttermilk, water,salt, sugar, turmeric powder and paste (chilli+garlic+ginger).
mix smooth so that no lumps remain.
microwave uncovered for 4 mins
stir
again microwave for 4 mins
stir
now microwave for 2 mins
stir
lastly microwave for 2 mins.
(photos show consistency of mixture for every stage)

STEP 2:

spread mixture thinly on a kitchen platform or on the back of metal plates or on flat trays while it is hot.. no need of greasing
i have used steel plates and chopping board for spreading mixture
keep it for 5 to 10 mins..

STEP 3:

cut into 1.5 to 2 inches wide strips.
sprinkle ground coconut and finely chopped coriander leaves
roll each strip to get small cylinders

STEP 4:

mix all ingredients of tempering ( oil+ mustard seeds) and microwave for 3 mins
pour on the pasta and serve

You got the title all wrong. Khaandvi is in no way similar to pasta to be called the 'Indian Pasta'. They are just different in everyway possible. I'd suggest you change the title.
Hey, thanx for letting me know.. but have you seen TLC's Madhur Jaffrey's Flavors Of India?? She referred Khandvi and alu vadi (patra ) as Indian Pasta
damn I'm so going to try this for Ramadan. but need some help, will it be OK to eat in aftari?

Nevertheless, it looks super tasty. I am going to try it.
