Introduction: Installing Hackintosh/OSx86 10.4.8 on Your PC!
Update: I got my new laptop and i'm making an instructable for 10.5.2, look for it within the next few days.
I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU DO WITH THIS INFORMATION... PLEASE KEEP IN MIND YOU MUST BE AN APPLE DEVELOPER TO INSTALL MAC OS X ON YOUR PC WITHOUT BREAKING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS/EULA! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE METHOD USED TO GET THE INSTALL DVD FOR THIS PROJECT. *YOU MUST HAVE AN OS X TIGER LICENSE TO USE THE DVD.*
You need:
-a pc with windows xp or vista preinstalled
-"JaS 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3" dvd/iso Fixed Link (please seed when done)
-if you have an intel processer with SSE3 (see step 2) then use this. (smaller file) (please seed when done)
->20 gig hard drive
-cpu-z (http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpuz_144.zip)
-other software (as needed)
-experience w/ computers
Step 1: Cheak Compatability & Backup...
Run cpu z and look in the middle for sse2 if it has this you will be able to install osx.
if you have sse3 then that is even better.
back all important data, have xp/recovery disk handy.
Step 2: Partition
(You May Lose Data In This Step)
The os x dvd does not have a very good partitioning tool. You need another partitioning tool. Use whatever you like. Partitioning is simple, you should be able to find instructions on hoe to partition.
You need:
Your XP/Vista partition
An os x partition Fat32
(Optional but recomended) an os share partition. Fat32
Step 3: Boot the DVD
Put the JaS dvd in the drive (yes, finally), boot the computer and hope for the best. Press any key and you will get a bunch of text, and more text. Then the text will change and you get 10x more text than before. Just wait until you are asked for your language. Once you see "welcome to JaS..." you go up to the top of the screen, click utilities, and click disk utility. You need to select the partition you made earlier for os x and erase it as The mac os filesystem (journaled), aka the top one. Name it somthing that you would like to see on your desktop because it will be there. Once it is formatted, close the disk utility and continue through the prompts.
Pics are from phone. Blurry...
Step 4: Select What to Install.
Just select what you want. Or need for your hardware. You should select login window 4.4? in the second to last catagory. Other than that only select what you need for your hardware. Finally click install.
Step 5: Selet What to Install...
Step 6: Restart
when installing is dome it will restart your computer. It should load the darwin boot loader. (press f8 to start windows or any other os'es) It will start os x and you need to jump and yell yipee! Just follow the prompts to set up os x.
Step 7: Edit the Bootloader
Go to (while in os x) your mac partition, applications, utilities, terminal.
paste "sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist" (without quotes)
enter your password, it will be hidden.
add these four lines if they do not already exist
<key>Quiet Boot</key>
<string>No</string>
<key>Timeout</key>
<string>7</string>
the file should now read:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple$
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Kernel</key>
<string>mach_kernel</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string></string>
<key>Boot Graphics</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Quiet Boot</key>
<string>No</string>
<key>Timeout</key>
<string>7</string>
</dict>
</plist>
press ctrl+o to save and ctrl+x to exit.
Now when you start you will be present with a list of your operating systems. Just select what you want to boot.

Don't use Tiger with that PC, try Yosemite or Maverics

I hope you realize that he commented in 2010 - OS X 10.5.8 was the latest... 10.4.8 is the Yosemite of you're comment's time, or the current sierra. 2nd latest major OS X (or macOS) version. And now I am commenting 2-3 years after you. Two can play at that game:
"Don't install Mac OS X on that PC, install macOS High Sierra. Maybe whatever comes into beta in a month or two."

so are you saying that if I follow these steps and use "JaS 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3" dvd/iso that i could install OSX onto my AMD Athlon computer?
Reply 7 years ago on Introduction
I think a Athlon is too old. Which Athlon is it? Is it 64-bit? If so, you can try Kalyway 10.5.
Reply 13 years ago on Introduction
