Step 1:

"Life is a combination of magic and pasta."

- Federico Fellini

In this video-based class, you will learn how easy it is to make fresh Italian-style pasta at home, with and without eggs, in many different shapes and flavors. No matter what part of the world you’re from, you will come away from this class knowing how to whip up delicious fresh pasta dishes that would make someone’s Italian mother somewhere, very proud.

Step 2: What You'll Be Learning

Fresh Pasta Dough From Scratch

Rolling & Cutting Dough Using A Pasta Machine

Making Noodle Nests

Cooking & Serving Fresh Pasta

Hand Forming Pasta Shapes

Making (& Eating) Classic Tomato Sauce

You'll be learning the above, and so much more! I've tried to include lessons that will allow you to customize your pasta dishes to suit your tastes and dietary needs. Let me know if the flow works (or doesn't work) for you, or if there's something you'd like to see added by sending me a message via my Instructables profile.

Step 3: About Me

Made in Canada, I grew up crafting, making, and baking. Out of this love for designing and creating, I pursued a BFA in Product Design from Parsons School of Design in NYC. Since then I've done work for Martha Stewart Living, Sunset Magazine, Fossil, Design*Sponge, and my own ceramic design company. I now have the most fun ever as a full time designer and content creator for Instructables, making a wide range of projects from food recipes to furniture. You can check out all my Instructables here and my ceramic work here. The following are a few of my favorite Instructables projects I've made so far:

Terrarium Table

SnickerPoodles

24 Carrot Cake

Chalk Clock

Step 4: Get Into the Mood

Music and movies can be a great source of cultural inspiration. To help get you in the mood for your upcoming class, I've compiled some suggestions below of how to start off on the right Italian foot.

Music To Make To

This is a link to a playlist of Italian mambo music I put together on Spotify. (You need to have a Spotify account and be logged in to access it.)

Play it while you mix, knead, and roll your way to deliciousness!

Italian Movie Suggestions

Once you've finished this class, why not invite friends over for an Italian food and movie night!! Hard work always tastes best when shared with friends and loved ones. :)

Here are some great Italian movie suggestions:

La Dolce Vita (1960 / a little racy)

Cinema Paradiso (1988)

Il Postino (1994)

Life is Beautiful (1997)

This classic is an English film, set in Rome:

Roman Holiday (1953)

Step 5: Quiz Time!
