Intro: Ipod Stylus (does Not Wreck Screen)

Recently i have been scavenging through the internet searching for a stylus that does not scratch and ruin the apple screens. Another thing I absolutely did not want on the stylus was aluminum foil. Yes, it may work, yet its kind of unattractive and can scratch the screen. My invention was inspired by another's work; he used a cue tip and some tin foil and dabbed the tip lightly with water. Thus allowing the humans touch flow through the tin foil, through the moist cotton tip and allowing access to the screen. I used a similar technique.
For this project you are going to need a pen, a cotton swab, any type will work but i prefer the hollow plastic tubing;you will see why, and water. Don't worry you are not going to get water all over the screen. This is an extremely cheap stylus and can be made in less than a minute.

STEP 1:

First take out the pen refill and fill it with water about an inch away from the top. Make sure the cap at the bottom is securely closed. If you turn the pen upside down you will know if you have done it right because due to suction water will not fall out. You can discard the pen if you want.

STEP 2:

Now take a cue tip and snip of one of the cotton ends. Make sure you have one of the hollow plastic barrel cue tips. They give best performance.

STEP 3:

Take the beheaded cue tip and insert the the headless side into the opening where you filled the water. Make sure its tightly placed in there are and no water leaks.

STEP 4:

Now you may think i crazy and you have all the right to. The reason this works is because the cotton never gets to wet; but always stays moist enough to let the human touch pass through the water. Every time the cotton becomes dry, the water fills it up and it becomes moist again. If the cotton is dry just shake the pen a bit. And if the cotton starts to come appart just use a new one. HAVE FUN! And happy holidays & new year. Lasts for a week on one water refill. Btw sorry for the grainy images. Im taking photos with my mac.

Does it matter what type of pen I use?
Thank you so much ill give you feedback when I try it out! ;)
works like a charm! thanks dude
Having difficulty with this one. I had difficulty getting water into the pen casing but succeeded by using centrifugal force. Alas I found it runs right out through the weep hole on the side, so I had to seal it with tape. Then I found the Q-tip gets really wet so I had to constantly wipe it off with a towel. The water in my pen was drained out within a few minutes.
What am I doing wrong?
Good job and good instructable....this is exactly what I have been looking for for months !!!
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing, this is the absolute best solution I've seen and it does work very well, no scratches and doesn't cost anything to build.
