Introduction: Iron Man Wooden Stool

Iron Man has always been my favorite character.
I hope there will be something in life that can be related to him. After I made Captain America's small stool last time, I had some experience. So I design this project. The color scheme uses Iron Man's paint: red, gold, and white.

Material

  1. A total of 7 Douglas fir angles within a section of 45x45 and a length of 250mm

Step 1: H-shaped Framework

I want to try dovetail this time because I have never used it before.
I haven't practiced manual dovetail tenoning, so I will use a trimmer to cheat for the time being.

  1. cut the slot with a table saw
  2. use the dovetail router bit to cut out
  3. use the chisel to debug
  4. make the straight joint at the ends

Step 2: Chair Legs

Because the chair foot and the ground inclined at 8 degrees, I made several jigs, which will be safer to operate.

  1. A jig of 8 degrees for the table saw sled.
  2. A jig of 8 degrees for the side.
  3. Two jigs of 8 degrees for the back. The left and right two clamps the workpiece.

Try combining chair legs (don't apply glue)
The chair feet will finally be cut off a little bit at 8 degrees, which will be flat with the ground.

Step 3: Armor

These decorative wood pieces are one of the highlights of this stool
I used some 5mm thick aircraft plywood left over from making boomerangs (Making-and-Throwing-of-Boomerang), and some 3mm birch plywood to make it look different in thickness and more three-dimensional Because there are multiple pieces of the same shape, they can be stacked when cutting, fixed with paper tape temporarily, and cut multiple pieces at a time

  1. Paint red.
  2. Tamiya TS-33 dark red + TS-87 titanium gold.

In addition, some 3mm plywood to make some upper armors.

Paste the armor and tighten it with a rubber band.

Step 4: Seat

  1. cut a 250x340x18mm board.
  2. use Jig saw to cut the four corners.
  3. use the trimmer to connect the 1/4R router bit to round the edge.

Step 5: Iron Man's Face

This part is a more troublesome place, but it is also the key point.

It must be handled very carefully because the spray can is very difficult to control.

  1. draw a circle in the middle and spray white paint
  2. draw the Iron Man's face line on the computer,
    after printing it out, stick one layer of transparent sealing tape on the top and bottom to increase the strength, stick the wooden board with double-sided tape, and then use a knife to cut out the part to be colored along the line.
  3. Use tape to cover the areas not to be painted with red, and spray red paint
  4. Use tape to cover the areas not to be painted with gold, and spray gold paint
  5. The above 3~4 steps need to be done many times

Step 6: Assemble

  1. drill 4 holes with a diameter of 8mm on the H-shaped framework, the depth is about 25mm~30mm
  2. Glue the H-shaped framework
  3. After inserting the dowel drill locator, tap the back of the seat cushion twice to make a dent
  4. Drill holes with a diameter of 8mm and a depth of about 15mm on the 4 indents of the seat cushion. It is best to use a positioning ring to avoid accidental penetration.
  5. Glue 4 chair legs
  6. Glue the upper armor
  7. Insert the dowel into the seat cushion hole
  8. Glue the seat and framework
  9. Remove the protective paper from the face pattern
  10. Remove the tape from the Iron Man's eyes

Finally, spray the clear protective paint and done.
