Introduction: Ironman ARC Reactor T-shirt

About: engineering student, venus project supporter, always like to make stuff!

Hey all!
I'm gonna show you how I made this basic sewing t-shirt, it's basically sewing a piece of fabric above another, so you can apply this method to your designs, just cut a piece of a t-shirt and sew another piece above it

So this one is made to look like Tony Stark's ARC reactor when he wears the black t-shirt, as you see in this picture of the movie Ironman. It's an easy design and it's almost the first time i sew something like this, so I've been learning while I was doing it. Took me about 3 hours.

Hope this inspires you to make your own designs!

Step 1: Materials

- Shirt that you will use (here's the black one)
- Piece of fabric (like an old shirt in shreds)
- Paper, pen, pencil, compass, scissors, cutter
- Needle and thread

Step 2: Designing in Paper

First make the design in paper, I just made some circles and divided it in 10 sectors (basic geometry). I didn't use any special measurement, just draw at a guess.

When you're done, cut the paper following your lines to make the holes.

Step 3: Trace the Design in the Shirt and Cut

Trace the design again in the shirt, I had enough with a pen, even in the black shirt I could see the lines. You want to draw it in the inside of the shirt so you won't see the pen lines when you're finished. If not, hope the washer machine removes them.

Carefully cut the shirt. The scissors worked better than the cutter for me.

Step 4: Sew the Piece of Fabric to It

Now place the piece of fabric, inside the shirt, hold it with needles and just start sewing.

I decided not to make it tight, because the thin black lines could become narrower, so in the thin lines (radial ones) the thread goes from white to white, not tight. In the other borders (circular ones) thread goes from white to black, and here it can be little more tight.

Step 5: Enjoy

Enjoy your upcycled Ironman shirt!
