Introduction: Jaws's Jaws

About: Technology enthusiast among other things.

Warning: If you have metal fillings or cannot stand putting Aluminium foil in your mouth this isn't for you!

Going to a James Bond themed event but don't have the time or money to go out and buy hair die etc. to look the part?

Then this is for you.

Materials:

Cheap boil and bite mouth guard (or any mouth guard you already own from Hockey etc.) They should only cost about £2/$3 from Amazon or most sports shops.

Aluminium foil (aka tin foil), enough to cover you mouth guard completely; I used about 15cm (6 inches) by about 11cm (4.5 inches) although this will vary depending on the size of your mouth guard. The import thing is that the entire leading edge of your mouth guard is covered with about 2.5cm (1 inch) extra on either side.

Tools:

Scissors for cutting the foil.

Note: You may also need a kettle, some water and a bole if you haven't already got a fitted mouth guard.

This instructable is very easy to make.

Step 1: Fit Your Mouth Guard

Please fit your mouth guard as per the instructions included with it.

Just as an idea of how to do this if you haven't done it before here's how it usually works:

Boil kettle and pour a large mug/ bowl of hot water.

Submerge mouth guard in boiling water for 10 seconds.

Quickly take mouth guard out of boiling water and bite into it.

Repeat until it fits adequately.

Note: Please follow the instructions included with your mouth guard and not these ones. This is only to give you an idea of how to do it if you were ever unsure. These instructions are not gospel.

Step 2: Cut Aluminium Foil to Size.

As a rule the foil should be about 2.5  to 3 times as wide as your mouth guard and 3 times as deep. If you have a very tall mouth guard adjust this size accordingly (maybe 4 times as deep).

As mentioned earlier I used 11cm by 15cm but yours will likely vary from mine.

Remember you want to cover the whole mouth guard with foil so that it will stay on without glue etc.

Step 3: Making the Jaws

Before you start decide which side of the Aluminium foil you want to appear on the outside of your jaws. I always go for the dull side but it doesn't really matter.

Place the side you want on the outside face down.

Please watch the video AND read the instructions.

Place your mouth Guard on the front edge of Aluminium foil about 1cm to 2cm from the edge.

Fold the foil over the front lip of the mouth guard being sure not to leave any air gaps, press down on the tin foil inside the lip hard so it starts to grip.

Bend the excess foil on the side into the mouthguard pressing down hard to make sure that it stays.

Fold the foil behind of the back lip of the mouth guard into the mouth guard. Press it down into all the little nooks and crannies. Don't worry if it splits a little bit, this is normal.

Trim off any excess foil. Fold the stub from the excess over so it doesn't stick up and annoy the top of your mouth when wearing it.

Hopefully your set of Jaws's Jaws now look something like mine.
