Introduction: Jewelry Pouch
This jewelry pouch is very easy to make and would be wonderful for Holiday gifts.
Cut out 4 circles, make a drawstring pouch.
Step 1: Supplies
fabric scraps, small piece of cardboard, scissors, thread, measuring tape. 2 yards of Ribbon. Sewing machine.
Step 2: Cut Fabric Circles
Cut 2 circles 14" and 2 circles 9". You can use all the same fabric or do like I did and find contrasting fabric.
Step 3: Sew Button Holes
Place 2 small pieces of scrap fabric on the wrong side of one of the large fabric circles, on the underside of where the buttonholes will go. This will help stabilize the fabric as you sew. The buttonholes will be 1-1/2" from the outer edge. Sew 2 about 1/2" apart and then sew the other two on the opposite side of circle.
Step 4: Sew Circles Together
Place the 2 large fabric circles together, wrong sides out. Sew around outside edge, leaving a 2" gap. Turn right side out. Top stitch about 1/4" from the edge, sewing the gap closed. Repeat with small circles.
Step 5: Cut Cardboard Circle
Cut a cardboard or plastic circle 3" round. Place in between the large fabric circle and the small fabric circle. Pin in place.
Step 6: Sew Layers Together
Sew the small circle to the large circle around the edge of the cardboard, but not through it.
Step 7: Sew Pockets
Place 8 pins around the small circle, evenly spaced, marking the stitching for the pockets. Sew from the edge of the cardboard to the outside edge of the small circle at all 8 places.
Step 8: Sew Casing for Ribbon
Machine stitch around 1" from the outside edge, just above the buttonholes. Then machine stitch again 1" below that close to the small circle, just below the buttonholes, This will make the casing for ribbon drawstring.
Step 9: Ribbon
Cut 2 pieces of 3/8" wide ribbon, 36" long. Place a safety pin on one end and push through one of the button holes, through the casing and all around and out of the buttonhole next to the one it went in. Tie the ends together in a knot. On the opposite side of the circle, put the safety pin on the end of the other ribbon and push it through one of the other buttonholes and through casing, out through the one next to it and tie the ends of ribbon together in a knot. Pull ribbons to close the jewelry pouch and tie into a bow.
Step 10: Finished Product
Now you have a cute little bag to put your jewelry in when you travel. This bag will hold several pairs of earrings, bracelets and necklaces and prevent them from getting all tangled up.
