find a beautiful board for the back

and mark where you want to cut

Step 1: Cut a Slot

in the shelf on three sites

Step 2: Cut the Edges

if you want (not necessary)

Step 3: Connect

the two pieces with mortise and tenon

or with pocket holes

Step 4: Add a Hanger

I glued a little piece of wood with a wire on the back

Step 5: Finishing

with linseed oil or what you want
