lajocar, i tried it, and mine just made a big circle, i used pepper that is black, is that right, if not what am i doing wrong?

He shows you the "procedure" in the video. The surface tension of the water acts like a piece of elastic. The pepper is shaken onto the surface of the water, and stays on top of it (if you could look closely, you would see that the pepper is also, for the most part, dry). Then, he puts some soap on his finger. Soap will "break" the surface tension of the water, basically "popping" it like a small balloon, which causes the surface to "tear" creating the star pattern.

nice, I tried it! but I just get a big circle with 5 spikes, do you know what I'm doing wrong?
