Introduction: Kitchen Peg With Pallet and Electric Whisk Remains

Few days ago, my electric whisk broke down...

I tried to fix it but there was no way to make it work again so I thought I should try to do something with the accessories.

So here comes the kitchen peg only made out of recycled parts and reuse!!

Step 1: Gather the Materials and Visualise Your Peg

Materials:

  • Some pallet slats.
  • Whisks from a broken electic whisk (or anything that could do kitchen related hooks).
  • Wood glue.

Tools:

  • Saw.
  • Drill.
  • Wood drill bit to the diameter of the whisk.
  • Jointer planer (facultative).
  • Sander (or sand papers).
  • Vice.
  • Hammer.
  • Locking pliers or pliers.
  • Clamps.

You can make a drawing or just arrange the slats and the whisks to get an idea of the final peg.

Step 2: Prepare the Wood

First, saw the slats at the desired length. Position the slats next to each other to see if it suits what you want.

Then, if you have a jointer planer, use it to get some nice wood pieces! Otherwise, you can just sand them, depends of the wanted finished look of your peg.

When the slats are ready, glue them together and use the clamps to maintain them.

Wait for the glue to dry!

If you want to paint it or apply some finish, do it now. I wanted a raw one so I didn't put anything on the wood.

Time to go to the next step!

Step 3: Bend and Cut the Whisks

According to the tools you have, bend the whisks.

In my case, I don't have a vice so I used a hammer and the locking pliers.

I gave an obtuse angle to two of the whisks (try to do the same angle by checking parallelism)

and a right angle to the two others.

Note:

To avoid the breaking of a whisk, maybe the best way is to use a blowtorch to heat the area to bend.

Step 4: Assemble the Peg
