Intro: Landscape Timber Garden

My wife and I build and planted this landscape timber garden during the last 2 weekends. Makes gardening possible in rocky Arkansas. Easy to build and no waste. Used 13 timbers and 30 - #60 6" spikes. It took 12 - 40 lb bags of dirt and 5- 40 lb bags of Miracle Grow Garden soil to fill.

This looks great, and it may be obvious to some how you built it, but it would be great to see the steps. How many timbers to cut in half, what size holes you drilled for the spikes, how the timbers are connected, etc. Also, I encourage anyone building raised beds to look into Square Foot Gardening, Lasagna Gardens (layer method), and the "Instant Garden" method (laying manure, cardboard, then LOTS of mulch).

Will the chemicals in the timbers leach into the soil?
