Introduction: Laser Cut Checker Board
I decided I wanted to make some checkers, but then I realized I didn't have a checker board. So I decided to design one up quick. There isn't much to it since it is mostly just alternating engraved and unengraved squares, but here you are!
I made this at Techshop in SF and it was a lot of fun!
The checkerboard is about 13 inches by 13 inches total; the squares take up 12 inches squared. I messed around with the size a little, but once I knew my checkers would be the standard 1 1/4 inch in diameter, I went with squares that were 1 1/2 inches squared. Then I just added on a bit of a border which brought it up to 13 inches squared.
After it was all cut out, I put on a coat or two of Polycrylic for a protective finish, but you don't have to do that.
I have attached the document for it in eps format. Let me know if you want it and what format you need it in if this one doesn't work.
Check out the checkers!

what type of wood did you use for this project?

I don't remember after all this time, but if I were to guess, I think it's just Birch plywood :) It wasn't anything special.

Thank you! I thought about putting designs in opposite corners, but since the checkers are so decorative, I decided to leave it plain and practical :)
