Laser Cut Fender Stratocaster Picture Frame

I made this picture frame for my friend, who is very passionate about playing the guitar. Seeing him play really inspired me to create a way for him to display pictures, and showcase what he loves.

Step 1: Gathering Supplies

• Access to a laser cutter or ShopBot
• .125 inch thick acrylic
• .125 inch think wood of your choice
• 5 Minute Epoxy or Insta

Step 2: Step 1: Creating a Design

First, I found a picture which I would base my design off of. Then, I inserted the picture into Autodesk Inventor and traced along the frame of the guitar. I then extruded the base to be .125 inches thick. Once the base was completed, I duplicated the file in order to make the frame portion. To capture the Stratocaster image, I added the pick guard outline. The placeholders for the pictures were then positioned around the pick guard, and their size was maximized. The frame was then extruded to .125 inches.

Step 3: Step 2: Cutting Out the Design

The next step is to cut out the files using a CO2 laser.

If a CO2 laser is not available, simply print out the provided template and use a bandsaw or other means of cutting.

Step 4: Step 3: Adhering the Base and Frame

The final step in creating this picture frame is adhering the base to the frame. To do this, use 5-minute Epoxy, Insta, or any other available glue. Place the glue on the frame, and line up the corners of the base and the frame and place it down. Let it sit until the glue has set. Once this is done, peel off the acrylic covering and place your favorite memories!
