Introduction: Last Minute Grover and Elmo Costumes

So my girlfriend and i had been planning for months on what to be for Halloween. So when it kind of snuck upon us we knew we were screwed. We rushed around looking for a costume for our son, we found him a cookie monster costume, he looks great in it. So the next step was finding something she and i could wear with him on Halloween night. Next came two days before Halloween and still no costume. We happen to stumble upon some cheap sweat shirts, that my girlfriend cleverly decided looked a lot like Elmo and Grover. This was great now how to make them? We needed it cheap and fast. So in this instructable we will show you a quick, cheap and easy way to make a Grover and Elmo costume. Hope you enjoy.

Step 1: Pick Out Sweatshirts

A patently i only took a picture of the Elmo colored hoodie.
DISCLAIMER: THE COLORS YOU SEE MAY BE DIFFERENT THEN WHAT I SAY, I AM COLORBLIND, BUT ACCORDING TO THE GIRLFRIEND THEY ARE PRETTY CLOSE TO WHAT ELMO AND GROVERS COLOR. I WOULDN'T KNOW.
Anyways pick out your desired size and color of your preferred sesame street character. In this case we picked an Elmo looking red, and a darkish blue color for Grover.

Step 2: Gather Other Materials

We started by painting the noses on Styrofoam balls pink for Grover and Orange for Elmo. We tried markers on the Styrofoam, but it was too porous to fill in nicely, so we decided to paint instead. This worked out much better.

Step 3: Eyes

We then painted the eyes with black paint and let dry.

Step 4: Finnish

We stuck the safety pins through the sweatshirts and put the noses and eyes on them. Then tried them on and headed out trick or treating.
