Intro: Leather Earrings

These earrings are simple, easy, inexpensive and a great gift! The only skill you really need to make these is to cut out patterns. I have made these earrings out of upholstery leather you could also make them out of thin crafting leather but these we are making today are faux leather from a old pocket book going to be thrown away.

STEP 1: Making a Pattern

So the first thing we need to do is make a pattern so we can make as many as we want. This particular pattern will be a fan style but you can make any style pattern you want the rest of the steps will be the same. To make the pattern use the ruler and make a triangle with out a bottom then take your washer or what ever round shape you have and trace it to connect with the arms of the triangle. It might take you a few tries to get the results you want.

STEP 2: Tracing Your Pattern

Now that you have a pattern you like take and trace that pattern on the back of the leather so that if you leave any pen marks it won't be on the front of the earrings.

STEP 3: Cutting the Leather

After you have a pattern on the back of your leather cut them out with your scissors. I recommend having a pair of scissors just for leather so they stay sharp.

STEP 4: Punching Holes

Now take your awl or ice pick what ever you have and punch a hole at the top of your earings. I'm using the awl I blacksmithed and have a instructable on.

STEP 5: Adding Hooks

Now that we have a hole in the top take your hooks and bend the eye over then push the hook through the hole in leather. After the hook is through the hole take your pliers and bend it back in place.

STEP 6: That's It!

And we are done! I hope you enjoy making these earrings they really are pretty easy and they look great! I put a few pictures of different earrings I have made with this pattern above just to show you what you can do.
Thank You for reading this instructable! If you would like to watch me make these here is the video- https://youtu.be/iG-2hYi5_aM
