Introduction: Leather Guitar Strap

For this project, I chose to make a leather guitar strap that looks very handmade and that holds picks discreetly.

You will need the amount of leather specific to your measurements. Approx 30 dollars

Leather shears 12.00$

Wax Leather Thread 10$

Leather Stitching Needles 4$

Step 1: Find Your Measurement

Before you cut/ order your leather, make sure you compare your idea to an already existing guitar strap. If you underestimate the size, the results are irreversible.

Step 2: Cut It!

The three strips you cut for this project should all be identical, or almost identical, in size. Make sure that the width is almost perfectly the same for each; In the case of mine, approx. 4 inches.

Step 3: Poke Holes in Leather Where Stitching Will Be

For this step, I didn't have a leather hole puncher, so I had to just use the needle. Individually poke each hole where stitching will be and make sure to thoroughly stretch each hole before you attempt to thread it. Place a pick wherever you'd like to make a pick slot and mark out holes around it.

Step 4: Thread the Leather

Simply thread the string through the holes you made in the previous step.

Step 5: Shape the Ends of the Strap

With your scissors, simply shape the ends of the strap how you'd like, and then cut holes for the guitar pegs. And finally alahh! A simple and effective guitar strap.
