Don't you hate it when keys rattle in your pocket? Here is a guide on how to build a simple leather key organizer to solve this problem

Chicago Screw (it has to be long enough to hold all the keys your planning to carry)
washers (have to fit on the screw)

Step 1: Cut the Leather

I cut a strip of leather to about twice the length of the longest key plus the thickness of all the keys stacked on each other, which ended up being 12.5cm (5in). And made it 2cm (3/4in) wide.

You can change the width as you like but if you make it too wide it becomes harder to get the right key out

Step 2: Holes

I punched two holes in the extremities of the strip and rounded the corners with a pair of scissors.

The holes are wide enough for the screw's shaft to go through but not the head of the screw.

Step 3: Cut the Screw

I then cut the screw slightly longer than the width of the keys stacked together (the extra length of the screw compared to the keys is to accommodate the thickness of the leather).

Remember to clean the edges of the cut with sandpaper, not only to prevent injuries but also because it might make it a little hard to thread the two parts of the screw.

Step 4: Assemble

Assemble the key holder and tighten the screw, the keys should rotate freely but at the same time be held snug by the leather, in order to not rattle.

If there is to much play in the keys you can cut the screw a little more or insert some washers to stop the rattle (as you can see in the pictures).

You could also put some threadlocker on the screw to secure it and prevent it from coming loose.

Lastly if you have a key that doesn't fit in the screw you can make the hole bigger with the right sized drill.
