Intro: Legacy: a K'nex Ball Machine

Finally, it's done!

Hello everybody!

This is my largest and 2nd ball machine to date, Legacy. Legacy features 3 networks (1 lift per network) and 7 paths. The lifts are the Semi-Circle Lift, the Alternating Arm Lift, and the Jump Lift. Legacy also features 2 new elements; the Cross-V Funnel (15th picture) and the Diagonal Clickers (16th picture). Legacy stands 4.3 feet tall, 4.75 feet wide, and 4.16 feet deep. That's 1.3 meters tall, 1.4 meters wide, and 1.2 meters deep for all you metric users.

Filming and editing took about 1 and 1/2 days.

Construction time was June 25th 2014- August 10th 2014, and January 16th 2015- February 8th 2015. (The reason there's a gap is because I took a huge break due to school.)

I'm very proud of this and I hope that you all enjoy this as much as I do.

Special thanks to:

  • Shadowman39
  • Tornado96
  • Sandroknexmaster
  • Knextreme

...And any other ball machine builder that saw some of their work here.

Fun Facts!

  • During my break, my family had a Halloween party. Since my friends were going to be in the basement, I had to move the whole machine, hence the change in location since the update.
  • The spinner on the white floor actually helps the balls from the jump lift go toward one of the other lifts.
  • The Cross-V funnel was invented by accident. It was originally supposed to be a new type of ball arm.

Thanks for watching and viewing!

Can we expect an instruction to be posted?

Unfortunately, Legacy has already been taken down. This machine was huge, and would have been very difficult to build and make instructions for. Sorry! (Hopefully my next few builds will have instructions though!)

This looks really good, are you going to make another machine soon?

You asked if I was making a new machine? It's done, check it out. I think it's my best work to date.

I did not expect that lol good job

Thanks! As a matter of fact, I'm currently working on something unique, that no one has ever seen before. It's kind of a ball machine, but will serve a practical use. It will only have 1 path, as I'm trying to finish I.t for the contest.

there are some very creative pathing designs in here, good job!

Hm... The video embedded in a weird spot. To view it, open the "see more" tab and scroll to the bottom. Thanks!

to fix that, either embed it before the pics, or make a new step with only the video. :)

Thanks for the tip! I'll remember to do that next time. Did I you enjoy the completed machine?

Yeah! Sorry for not saying it earlier! It was awesome and nice name! a lot happened since the update!

Thanks! Yeah, a lot was added and changed for it to run better.

uh huh. That's what usually happens. I do that all the time! :)

you know, you can do that by just going to the instructables tab inside the you page and clicking edit and creating a new step, right?

Yup, just noticed that. I'll fix it later; the app won't let me and I can't do it from my iPad. I'll use my computer when it's available.

This is some nice ball machine! Great job!
