Fidget spinners are so popular these days. But I really think they are so expensive for a useless toy. I found that many guy who have bought them found them boring after some use and they try hard to find some new ways and tricks to use with them. So I've decided to take the exciting option from the beginning and to start building my own fidget spinner.

As you all know, I am obsessed with self powered gadgets and LED lights. And here comes the idea of my new instructable.

Today I'm going to show you how I made my light generating fidget spinner using an old DC motor without bearing nor glue.

Step 1: Components and Tools

Components:

Piece of Plastic --- to make the spinner frame

Small DC Motor , Amazon US, Amazon DE , Amazon FR , Aliexpress--- that makes the spinner bearing ( rotor and stator ) and also the generator for lights

Some Screws ----- to act as weights on the fidget spinner arms.

LED and some wires.

Gears ----- They will make the grip for the spinner

Tools:

Soldering iron and solder wire Amazon US, Amazon DE , Amazon FR , Aliexpress

Screw driver Amazon US, Amazon DE , Amazon FR , Aliexpress

Ruler

Pencil

Protractor Amazon US , Amazon DE , Amazon FR , Aliexpress

Drawing Compass Amazon US , Aliexpress

Step 2: Make the Frame

I wanted to make the spinner frame template on the piece of plastic. I started by drawing three straight lines on 120 degrees angels.

Then I drawn three circles on the arms and one larger circle in the middle.

Then I cut the frame using solder iron. And cut the circle at the center for the motor. Make sure to do this in a well ventilated area.

Step 3: Install Components

Install screws on the spinner arms.

Install motor at the center circle.

Install and connect the LED to the motor terminals.

Try to test the LED first by spinning the motor with your hand.

Make sure that the LED is lit by spinning the motor in the direction you are comfortable with.

Congratulations, now you have your own fidget spinner. Spin it and enjoy.
