Introduction: Light-Up Alice in Wonderland Fabric Ears

About: I'm a lifetime crafter here to share my love of all things crafts and DIYs. I have a crafting blog (https://www.abcrafty.com) and YouTube channel (youtube.com/abcrafty)

These are no-sew Alice in Wonderland Disney ears made from Alice in Wonderland fabric. They're easy to make and even light up!

Supplies

  • Mickey Mouse Ears Template
  • 2 90mm Clear Plastic Disc Ornaments
  • 1 set 6.6 ft Fairy Lights
  • Alice in Wonderland Fabric
  • Black Sequin Fabric
  • 1 1 inch Satin Headband
  • Satin Ribbon
  • Glue Gun

Step 1: Download and Print the Template

I created a template you can use to easily make these ears. It has a template for the plastic ornaments and the headband.

Step 2: Prepare the Ears

Break off the nub to each of the plastic ornaments. This will not only smooth out the plastic, but give a whole through which you can run the wires.

Step 3: Glue on the Lights

Use a glue gun to glue 10 lights into one of the halves of an ornament. The last light should be added close to the opening.

Then bring the wire across to the other ornament. Again, glue the next light right at the opening. Glue the down rest of the lights and bring the wire back through the opening.

Step 4: Cut and Glue the Fabric

Use the template to cut out 4 circles of fabric.

Glue a circle to each half of the ornament with the glue gun. Trim off the excess fabric. Repeat on the other side.

Step 5: Cut the Headband Cover

Fold the fabric over and place the headband template on top, placing the fold line at the fold. Cut around the template, but not on the fold.

Step 6: Cover the Headband

Unwrap the fabric and use a glue gun to glue the fabric to the headband.

Step 7: Add the Ribbon

Cut off a piece of ribbon and glue it to the inside of the headband.

Tip: Tuck the ends under before glueing them down.

Step 8: Attach the Ears

Glue the ears to the top of the headband. Don't be shy with the glue! You want to make sure they're completely secure.

Step 9: Attach the Battery Pack

Fold up the wires on top and glue on the battery pack. Make sure the screws are facing up so you can change out the battery down the line if you need to.

Step 10: Attach the Bow

Cut out an 8x11 piece of the sequin fabric and a small piece about 1x3 inches.

Fold the large rectangle into a bow - you can find the instructions with images here since I don't have photos for this bow. But here are the written instructions:

  1. Fold it long ways from the bottom part way and then fold over the top so they overlap a bit. Glue it down.
  2. Fold the sides in and glue it down
  3. On one side, fold the fabric backwards, holding it in place until the glue dries.
  4. Then place glue on top of the fabric in the middle and fold it back towards the center
  5. Hold it in place until it dries.
  6. You should now see the bow taking its shape.
  7. Repeat the process on the other side
