Light Up Blanket

Introduction: Light Up Blanket

About: I love sports and lotus

Hello! As we are entering winter and fall the weather is going to start getting colder so of course, we are going to be using blankets. I love cool and different types of blankets, regular blankets are boring so I thought making a blanket that lights up would be really cool. So I decided I could share the prodigy with you! I hope you enjoy!

Step 1: Gathering Your Supplies

The first thing to do is gather your supplies. Depending on your type of style you will probably choose a different type of fabric. Finding these supplies is really easy you can get these supplies at Walmart, Home Depot or any craft store. You do not have to use all these supplies you can be more creative but these are the item I used for this specific blanket prodigy.

List of Supplies:

  • Two pieces of 12'" by 12" cloth fabric
  • Hot glue gun
  • Copper tape
  • LED light bulbs
  • Batteries
  • Switch

Step 2: Simple Switch Circuit

The first thing you are going to do is make a simple circuit, to make the circuit you should place the copper tape into an L shape and then cut it leaving a space for the led light bulb on the other side of the space you are going make a 3" inch line and then fold the tape over to make a corner and you are going to make a 2" inch line and fold it over to make a corner and then another 3" inch line of tape with just like the other side and cut it. You should leave a little space to place your switch. On the other side, you are going to make a line identical to the one parallel to it. After making the identical line you are going to make a corner and form another 3" inch line and then once you are done making the line you are going to fold it to the left and make another line of copper tape. It should not touch the first line you made.

Step 3: Batteries

On your simple circuit, the very last line you made you left a space between the first and last lines which is where you should place your two batteries they should be facing opposite of each other and you can tape them together to make it easier for it to work.

Step 4: Adding the Switch

Between the two U shaped tapped should be a space where you place your switch. You should place the metal ends of the switch on the two lines of copper tape. If you press the switch and your light bulb lights up you can tape it.

Step 5: Cutting the Fabric

Once you have made your simple switch circuit you can being to cut your fabric into two 12" inch sections. You can either use the same fabric or two different ones.

Step 6: Place Your Circuit Into the Fabric

After cutting the fabric you can place the circuit on the fabric and hot glue it. When you are done hot gluing the circuit to the fabric you can glue both fabrics together to form your blanket.
