Linus' Night View LED Card

Create a nice LED pop-up card using parallel paper circuit and parallel pop-up fold.

Supplies

• Paper (at least 180gsm)
• Colour markers or colour pencils
• LED light sticker and copper tape (chibitronics)
• double-sided tape
• scissors
• Battery (3V)

Step 1: Make a Parallel-Crease Fold

Think of where to put your LED lights when you design your Pop-up card.

In this example, I decided to use a parallel pop-up fold to make the buildings pop out when the card is opened.

I will be adding LED lights on the stars drawn on the card.

Fold a paper into half and cut 2 slits across the fold.

Bend the flap and push in to create a parallel-crease fold.

Draw buildings and use double-sided tape to past on the parallel fold.

Step 2: Decorate and Colour

Draw the night sky on the card and add stars.

Use markers or colour pencils to colour.

Step 3: Paste Copper Tape to Create Parallel Circuit

On another paper, create a parallel circuit by pasting copper tape and align the LED stickers according to where your stars are drawn.

I made a zig-zag parallel circuit to light up the stars.

Paste the paper circuit behind your card to hide the copper tapes.

Step 4: Secure Battery With Tape or Binder Clip

Paste the 3V battery at the corner of the paper and secure if with double sided tape or binder clip.

Where your circuit is connected, the LED stickers will light up the night view sky.
