About: Hi everyone! I'm a hardcore DIY'er, I've published 11 DIY books, just produced my own TV show called Make Your Mark for PBS/APT, I make YouTube videos every week and I'm buried under a mountain of craft suppl…

Take 4 dingy t-shirts and turn them into this vibrant, long, tie dye t-shirt dress (which can also be a beach cover up)

Step 1: Watch the Video Tutorial

Step 2: You'll Need

Sewing machine

4 t-shirts

Rit Liquid Dye in Navy Blue (or a color you like)

Rubber bands

Scissors

Step 3:

Cut off the bottom hem and sleeve hems of shirt 1.

Step 4:

Fold shirt 2 in half down the center and place the sleeve of shirt on the fold just below the neckline

Trace a sleeve extension from the cut sleeve down to the hem of shirt 2 as shown

Cut along your lines

*This is to extend the sleeves, we will sew them on when we're done cutting

Step 5:

Cut across the chest of shirt 3 right under the sleeves

Also cut off the hem of shirt 3

*This will be the mid-section of the dress

Step 6:

Cut across the chest of shirt 4, right under the arms. Do not cut off the hem. The hem of this shirt will be the hem of the dress

Step 7:

Time to stitch the sleeves together.

Step 8:

Fold your sleeves right sides together and stitch the edges together using 1/2" seam allowance

Putting right sides together, match the seams and the raw edges and stitch them together making sure to stretch the fabric while you sew!

Step 9:

Stitch shirt 3 to the bottom of shirt 1 (this is the mid section)

Stitch the raw edge of shirt for to the bottom of shirt 3 (this is the bottom and hem of your dress)

Step 10:

Pick your dye color

Tie rubber bands around the dress

Dye according to the directions

Rinse until the water runs clear

Wash and dry your new dress and you're ready to go!
