Introduction: Lotus Flower Tea Light

I made a origami lotus flower with a glowing center. I decided to make this because I wanted to try something simple and fun. These can be used as little decorations for anything really. You can use them to tke up empty space on a shelf or mantel.

Supplies

Materials needed:

1.) Small Tea Light

2.) 3V battery for tea light

3.) Square piece of paper

4.) Scissors

5.) Tape (not pictured)

Step 1: Setting Up the Tea Light

To begin, find or buy a small tea light and if the light needs it, a 3V battery. The tea light can be found on Amazon or at Target. The 3V battery should be at you loccal grocery store. Place the 3V battery in you tea light and make sure that it works.

Step 2: Making the Lotus Flower

I used an easy 4-minute YouTube tutorial and a 5 by 5 piece of paper. Go to YouTube and typ into the search bar easy origami flower. The YouTuber that I followed along with is called Ornella Origami. Follow along with the video until flower is complete. Go slow and rewatch steps if you need to. After the flower I completed my flower, I used small strips of tape on the insides of the petals to keep the flower from unfolding.

Step 3: Poke a Hole for the Tea Light

Take your scissors and open them. Take one of the blade tips and place in the center of the flower. Slowly twist the scissors while applying gently preassure. Be carful and don't accidently stab your hand. Make a small hole that's big enough for the light of the tea light.

Step 4: Tea Light and Flower

Gently push the light through the hole. Don't worry if the light pushes the inside of the flower, it won't change the outcome. Once the flower is securely in place than you can turn on and you're done. Great job!
