Low-Fat Key Lime Pie

Introduction: Low-Fat Key Lime Pie

About: I have been sewing and crafting for several years, my children are grown so now I have lots of time to be creative. I enjoy photography, cooking, cake decorating, painting and sharing my projects with others.

This a delicious recipe for summer time! I made this pie with lime jello and lime yogurt but you could also make it with cherry jello and cherry yogurt, or any flavor that you can find in both the jello and yogurt.

Step 1: Ingredients and Supplies

You will need:

1 graham cracker pie crust
1 small package jello
8 oz container low-fat Cool Whip
2 containers yogurt (8 oz)

Large mixing bowl
large spoon

Step 2: Disolve Jello

Disolve jello in 1 cup hot water. Stir until completely disolved.

Step 3: Cool Whip

Add container of cool whip that has been completely frozen.  Stir until melted.

Step 4: Add Yogurt

Add both containers of yogurt and blend well with mixer.

Step 5: Pour Into Pie Shell

Pour filling into the pie shell. Cover and place in refridgerator for at least 1 hour. Overnight is even better.

Step 6: Serves 8

Cut into 8 pieces and serve. I had a small amount of the filling left over. If you want, you can only stir in 3/4 of the cool whip and leave the rest for garnish when it is served.

I do understand your concern but if you look closely at the label on the yogurt, it clearly says "Key Lime" as the flavor.

I appreciate your posting of this recipe and it looks like it could be tasty, but please don't call it Key Lime pie. Having lived in the Florida Keys we take pride in Key Lime pies. One of the rules is that they actually contain Key Limes. A somewhat acceptable substitute is regular limes if there is no possible way of getting the correct limes.

This looks like a great Low Fat Lime Jello pie or something similar, just not a Key Lime pie.
