Luxury Custom Tinsel

Introduction: Luxury Custom Tinsel

In my first instructable I'm going to show you how to make cheap tinsel look like the expensive version.

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

So last year we were lucky enough to go shopping on the day the shop reduced their value tinsel to 6p for 4 meters of red or silver, needless to say I filled a basket.

Step 2: Gather Your Tools

All you actually need to use is a drill and a mixer paddle, an assistant helps too, if you haven't got an assistant to hand then a bulldog clip on a door handle works too, you'll also need a space big enough to work, some of this tinsel can be silly lengths so make sure you have room.

Now drills are dangerous but as your operating a computer or mobile device to view this I'll assume your attached to your fingers, so don't go crying if you stick your fingers in the paddle and spin the drill, that's a stoopid idea, and it's not part of this instructable!

Step 3: Make Your Naff Tinsel Into Stunning Tinsel

So this is the process, once your tinsel is laid out get your assistant to hold the bits your using together and level, they need to be opposite you and you need to attach the tinsel to the mixer paddle, I found it holds well enough if you just wrap it round one of the blades a couple of times, do the opposite blade for the second tinsel.

Step 4: Spin Spin Sugar

Time to spin, you need to keep a small amount of tension on the tinsel but not too much, then spin for a few seconds, stop and check now and again until you've twisted it together enough, you could do this with as many strands as you like, the more you use the thicker it will be, you will however loose some length because of the twisting.

Step 5: Your Done!

Time to hang it up, go experiment, there's more combos that can be done with two three four or more strands and it thickens it up really nicely.

Stay safe, have fun, enjoy Xmas with your custom luxury tinsel!

Thanks, I'm pleased with the finished item and it's not hard to make, plus it's easy enough to make it match anything else in your display.
