MP3 or Phone to Car Amp Without Head Unit / Como Conectar Mp3/telefono Directo a Un Amplificador

My car has one of those new stereos occupying half dashboard and also have integrated air conditioning control.
The stereo has no auxiliary input and I don't want to damage the dashboard of the car in case I want to sell it in the future, so I look for a solution that would allow me to use my phone as an audio source for music, hands-free calls and internet radio.
It also needed to be a flexible system that allows me to connect my wife's iPhone or my Samsung Galaxy.
I don't use CDs or AM / FM radio, so I thought about using an old amplifier that had saved from my old car, but did not want to use / change the stereo, so I decided to find a way to connect my phone to the amp without a headunit.
I did this a few months ago and did not take pictures, so I'll try to remember what I did and documented here.
Warning: I am NOT a electrical technician, so if you choose to try this installation do so at your own risk, any damage that may result to your property or you are your responsibility.

Mi carro tiene uno de esos nuevos estereos que ocupan medio tablero y ademas tienen integrado el control del aire acondicionado.
El equipo no tiene entrada de auxiliar y no queria dañar el tablero del carro en caso de que quiera venderlo en un futuro, asi que busque una solución que me permitiera usar mi teléfono como fuente de audio para musica, llamadas manos libres y radio por Internet.
También necesitaba que fuera un sistema flexible que me permita conectar el Iphone de mi esposa o mi samsung Galaxy.
Como hace muchos años no escucho CDs y tampoco escucho radio AM/FM, pensé en usar un amplificador que tenia guardado, pero no queria utilizar/cambiar el estero, asi que decidi buscar una forma de conectar mi teléfono directo al amplificador.
Hice esto hace unos meses y no tomé fotos, asi que trataré de recordar lo que hice y documentarlo aqui.
Advertencia: No soy tecnico en electricidad, asi que si decide intaentar esta instalación hagalo bajo su propio riesgo, cualquier daño que pueda resultar a sus propiedades o usted son responsabilidad suya.

Step 1: Parts & Materials / Partes Y Materiales

This instructable is for a small amp, if you want to install multiple amplifiers or more powerful amp this information might not work for you.

Phone. (It can be changed by an MP3 player)
Phone Charger.
Support for your phone.
Speaker cable.
Electrical wire Red, Blue and Black: Read the manual to know the size, the length depends on your car and the place where you are installing the amplifier.
Electrical tape or shrink tubing.
Adapters / Connectors for wire harness according to your car model.
Switch for dashboard installation.
Fuse and fuse holder according to what the manual recommends for your amplifier.
3.5mm headphone jack to RCA

Esta instalación es para un amplificador pequeño, si usted desea instalar varios amplificadores o un amplificador de mayor potencia puede ser que esta información no le sirva.

Un teléfono. (Se puede cambiar por un reproductor MP3)
Cargador para el teléfono.
Soporte para el teléfono.
Cable para parlantes.
Cable eléctrico Rojo, Azul y Negro:Lea el manual del amplificador para saber el calibre, la cantidad depende de su carro y del sitio donde va a instalar el amplificador.
Cinta aislante o tubos termoencogibles.
Adaptadores/Conectores para el arnés de cables de acuerdo al modelo de su carro.
Interruptor para el tablero.
Porta fusibles y fusible de acuerdo a lo que recomienda el manual de su amplificador.
Cable de audífonos 3.5mm a RCA.

Step 2: Electrical Wiring / Instalacion Electrica

FIRST DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE CABLE FROM THE BATTERY OF YOUR TRUCK BEFORE ANY ELECTRICAL WORK IN YOUR CAR.

The electrical installation is very simple:

The red wire should go from the port that says 12V power on the amplifier to the battery, it is necessary to find a hole in the firewall that is sheet metal wall that separates the passenger compartment from the engine compartment.
If you must drill a hole for the wire or find a suitable hole use rubber grommets to prevent that the firewall damage the cable jacket causing a short.
Install the fuse in the red wire as close to the battery terminal as possible (18" or less)
Disconnect and identify the wires in the harness that is connected to the stereo.
When you identify a wire that is 12V when placing the car key on the ACC position (usually red) connect the blue wire to this wire and to the terminal marked Remote On at the amp. you can install a switch on the blue cable, otherwise the amplifier will turn on each time you turn on the car.
Finally connect the black wire to the ground terminal of the amplifier and connect it to any unpainted metal part that is connected to the chassis of the car.

PRIMERO DESCONECTE EL CABLE NEGATIVO DE LA BATERIA DE SU CARRO ANTES DE HACER CUALQUIER TRABAJO ELÉCTRICO EN SU CARRO.

La instalación Eléctrica es muy sencilla:

El cable rojo debe ir desde el puerto que dice 12V power en el amplificador hasta la batería, para esto es necesario buscar un agujero en el muro de fuego que es lamina que separa el compartimiento de pasajeros del compartimiento del motor.
Si debe perforar un agujero para pasar el cable o si encuentra un agujero adecuado verifique que tenga arandelas de caucho para impedir que la lamina metálica dañe el forro del cable causando un corto circuito.
Instale el portafusibles en el cable rojo tan cerca del terminal de la bateria como le sea posible (45 cms o menos)
Desconecte e identifique los cables del arnés que va conectado al estéreo.
Cuando identifique un cable que le de 12V al colocar la llave del auto en la posición ACC (usualmente rojo) conecte el cable azul y llévelo hasta el terminal marcado Remote On si lo desea puede instalar un interruptor en este cable, de lo contrario el amplificador se encenderá cada vez que encienda el carro.
Por ultimo conecte el cable negro al terminal Ground del amplificador y conéctelo a cualquier parte metálica sin pintar que esté conectada al chasis del carro.

Step 3: Speaker Wiring / Cableado De Parlantes

Usually these colors are used to identify the speakers, solid colors are positive and those with a line, usually black, are negative.

White and White / Black = Left Front
Grey and Grey / Black = Right Front
Green and Green / Black = Rear Left
Purple and Purple / Black = Right Rear

Connect the cable that carries the signal from the telephone/MP3 to the amplifier

After connecting all cables remember isolate connections with tape or shrink tubing and after verifying all the wiring place everything in its final position and reconnect the negative battery terminal.

If everything went OK when you turn on the car switch and the auxiliary switch you can listen to music from your phone through the car speakers.

Now you can use your phone to listen to music, GPS navigation, hands-free calling and much more.

Usualmente los siguientes colores son usados para identificar los parlantes, los colores sólidos son los positivos y los que tienen una linea, usualmente negra, son los negativos.

Blanco y Blanco/Negro = Delantero Izquierdo
Gris y Gris/Negro = Delantero Derecho
Verde y Verde/Negro = Trasero Izquierdo
Morado y Morado/Negro = Trasero Derecho

Conecte el cable que lleva la señal del teléfono/MP3 al amplificador

Luego de conectar todos los cables recuerde aislar las conexiones con cinta o tubos termoencogibles y luego de verificar todo y ubicar los cables en su posición definitiva puede reconectar el borne negativo de la batería.

Si todo resultó bien al prender el interruptor del carro y encender el interruptor auxiliar que instaló en el tablero podrá escuchar la música de su teléfono por los parlantes del carro.

Ahora puede usar su teléfono para escuchar música, para navegación GPS, para hacer llamadas manos libres y muchas cosas mas.
