Model United Nations (MUN) conferences are events in which participants (called delegates) represent countries in a mock United Nations conference, debating about geopolitics, international legislation, and more. During these conferences, delegates have to utilize numerous items like binders, pencil cases, notes, notebooks, clipboards, papers (for speeches), and more. These can be hard to manage, especially while making speeches and debating during the conference. As such, MUNBoard aims to provide a solution by combining these items into one. It features a clipboard, pen holder, pockets for notes, a pocket for papers, and a transparent box that can hold a printout of the flag of the country that the delegate is representing.

Step 1: Model Main Boards

First, model the parts in Inkscape. Note that all rectangles should have a stroke style of 0.001 inch and a color of #ff3400ff for the laser cutter. Model 2 9-inch x 12-inch rectangles in Inkscape (the main boards), with 3 3mm wide holes on the left and right sides. Add 2 3mm wide holes on the bottom side. The length of these holes does not matter, as long as you can fit 2-3 of them on the sides of the board, though make sure that the holes are 0.6mm smaller than either the length (if the hole is horizontal) or the width (if the hole is vertical) than the tabs that will fit in the holes.

Step 2: Model Sideboards

Next, model the sideboards, which are 2 1-inch by 12.5 inches big, then add tabs (3 recommended) on both the left and right sides that correspond to the holes in the main boards. These should be 0.6mm longer than the length of the tabs on the main board.

Step 3: Model Bottom

Next, create the bottom portion, which is a 9-inch by 1-inch rectangle with tabs on the top and bottom (2 each recommended) that correspond to the tabs in the 2 main boards. After finishing this, subtract 3mm from both sides of the rectangle, making it an approximately 8.766-inch by 1-inch rectangle (this is to make space for the sideboards).

Step 4: Model Side Pen Holder

Next, create the pen holder. First, create a 0.850-inch by 4-inch main rectangle. Then, create 2 0.400-inch by 4-inch rectangles, and add 3mm wide tabs on both sides of the 2 rectangles. Then, create a 0.850 x 0.400-inch rectangle with 3mm tall tabs on the top and the bottom, and subtract 3mm from both sides to make space for the 2 sides of the pen holder. Finally, add holes on the sides of the main rectangle that are 0.6mm smaller than the tabs.

Step 5: Model Back Pockets

Next, create the back pockets. Model 2 4-inch by 4.2-inch rectangles. Then, create 2 10mm x 101.600mm horizontal rectangles and add 3mm wide slots on the left and right of these. Create 1 more 4,2-inch by 10mm vertical rectangle, and subtract 3mm from both sides.

Step 6: Model Flag Holder

Model an 8-inch by 5-inch main rectangle. Create 2 2.5mm x 5-inch rectangles, and add 3mm wide tabs to the right and left of these. Finally, create an 8-inch by 2.5mm rectangle, add 3mm tall tabs to the top and bottom, and subtract 3mm from both sides. Remember to add holes in the main rectangle that correspond to the tabs.

Step 7: Add Holes to One of the Main Boards

Add holes that correspond to both the back pocket tabs and the flag holder tabs. They can be placed anywhere, but it is recommended to put the 2 back pockets at the bottom and the flag holder at the top.

Step 8: Formatting

Next, create 3 Inkscape projects, and format them to be 30cmx60cm big in File>Document Properties>Height and Width. Layout the parts so that all of them will fit in 3 files (recommended: 1 main board, 1 sideboard, pen holder in 1, 1 main board, 1 sideboard in another, back pockets in another). For the flag holder, create a separate Inkscape project.
