Your old friend Doctor Jim
- developer of the most important health app for Android and iOS -

Step 1: You Remember...

...a Chinese face shield from another episode.

A bit flabby, but it's allright.
The head band is fixed to the shield.
And the padding does not seem easy to clean.
Looks like it is no too easy to disinfect.

Step 2: Let's See What's Available:

Transparent Foil (0,2mm thick, A4 or legal size)

Doctor Jim had that as a front page cover of a stack of copies of his latest research.
There's more at any copy shop or nearby office supply.

Your equipment is:

  • A glass
  • A marker pen
  • A hole punche

Your materials are:

  • A sticky note (postit(c))
  • Adhesive tape
  • A few small rubber rings
  • Two staples
  • A roll of towel paper

And a Cat. A priceless Prrussian Blue.
You hope it must not be used...

Step 3: In Your Mind's Eye...

...you see how how it easy it would have been
to make a nice head band.

If only you had
a larger rubber ring
or an elastic liner from Doctor Jim's trousers...

You would just tied a knot.

But then this episode would have been short and boaring
wouldn't it?

Step 4: In Search of Security...

...it's most important that Doctor Jim does not get hurt while he makes apps:

That's why you round off the bottom corners of the foil.

You put the glass on the foil (1, 2),
mark the rounded edges, and cut them (3)

Step 5: The Enormous Strain...

...of the action scenes to follow
cannot be taken by the foil alone.

And you need to punch 6 holes in the top of the foil.

What will you do?

You reinforce it with adhesive tape on both sides (A, AA, AAA)
and THEN you punch the 6 holes (AAAA).

We're so lucky to have you and your ideas!

Step 6: Now Follows MacGyver Magic:

To make a headband you only have a few small rubber rings.

You can always do the trick to make a chain of rings (I, II, III)
and you continue until the chain is long enough (IV).

Step 7: ...and Staples!

Your handling of the rubber rings is awsome:

Two ends through the hole (a) and fix them with a staple (b).
You do this on each side AND VOILÀ (c)!

Step 8: A Bit of Disposable Luxury:

After a long day of developping apps,
Doctor Jim needs a fresh head pad.
So make it disposable and easily exchangable.

You pull two sheets (i) of towel paper (approx. 26 x 21 cm, 11 x 10 ")
and roll them up (ii). Nice and lose makes it more comfortable.

And now there's another bit of your rubber ring magic:

Through the hole (iii),
over the towel (iv),
pull the ring (v),
through the 2nd hole (vi)
and over the towel again (vii).
As you have two rubber rings and four holes for the padding on the shield, you do this twice.
You're fantastic, MacGyver!

Step 9: Make Their Day!

Doctor Jim needs to be identified instantly.

And everyone who meets him must cheer up.

You use the adhesive sticker to create the "I am, I like" sticker,

fold it, and put it on top of the shield.

Step 10: Thumbs Up From Doctor Jim.

There's nothing more satisfiying than saving a good friend.
Now he can finish developping the app against the main cause of death in covid-19.

He is also wearing an AREVERA MASK.

You like it,
because it can be made so fast
and it's so simple!
