Introduction: Magic Lobster Leg Meat Extraction
Using a microwave you can both cook and extract the meat from a lobster leg in 30 seconds. Some people also call this popcorn lobster.
Step 1: Gather Materials
All you will need is the following:
- Raw lobster legs
- A Tupperware container or something similar that will fit a lobster leg
- Microwave
This works best with a good sized lobster, as there is not much meat in the little guys. Aquire lobsters by whatever means is convenient and pull off the legs. I usually toss them all in a ziplock bag and stick them in the fridge.
Step 2: Cook and Enjoy
Place 1 leg in the tupperware and fasten the lid.
Note: If you don't use a container, you will have a lobster explosion all over your microwave(trust me)
Set the microwave for 30 seconds. At some point you will hear a pop and you can stop the microwave. The pop is the cooked leg meat shooting out of the shell from the built up pressure.
Consume the delicious snack and repeat as needed.
Note: do not be greedy and try and do more than one at once.
Enjoy!

is the meat cooked after the microwave? or do you then need to boil it?

It is fully cooked in the microwave and ready to eat

Never microwave a plastic lid...toxins escape into the food. Use a microwave glass casserole with lid, instead. Great tip otherwise. Just don't want anyone getting sick.

Thank you. I use BPA free containers that are specifically labeled as microwave safe(lid and container), but a glass casserole would work fine as well.
