Intro: Make Green Fire at Home!

Today I will show all of the internet how to make Green Fire, or Trimethyl Borate, at home!

STEP 1: Gather Materials

What you'll need:

  • Methanol
  • Borax
  • Heat resistant container

STEP 2: Synthesis

Simply add methanol to an amount of borax. In these pictures I added 100mL of methanol to 5g of borax.

STEP 3: Lighting

this is similar but different. you know how halogen in plastics burn green? do you think that if plastic with the halogens was to be ground into a dust and mixed with wax you could make a candle that would burn green?

I would say that burning plastics never, ever end well. Remember that you would end up breathing something in. Copper salts might be better, but you need to have a high enough heat to burn the substance
Since you are burning the wick and not the wax itself I'm not sure how this might work.
