Introduction: Make Your Own Boombox
In this project I will show you how to create a Boombox that mainly consists of a car radio, salvaged speakers and two 12V lead acid batteries. This upgraded version is louder and lighter than my previous Boombox and can play its tunes up to 9 hours continuously. Let's get started!
Step 1: Watch the Video!
The video gives you all the information you need to make your own Boombox. The following steps are just a couple of additional details to make your life easier.
Step 2: Order Your Components!
Here you can find a parts list with example sellers for your convenience (affiliate links).

Step 3: Test Your Circuit!
It is always a good idea to test your circuit before mounting all the components inside the wood chest. Feel free to use my wiring scheme to do so.
Step 4: Mount Your Components!
If your circuit worked perfectly it is time to relocate it inside the wood chest. You can use my attached pictures as a reference.
Step 5: Success!
You did it! You just created your own Boombox!

As nice as it is, I'm sorry but there's nothing new there apart from the technology in the equipment used. I was building these in the 1970's when working as a technician for a large Australian electronics company. I was told they would never catch on

Hello,
I just ran across your video and love this idea. I have all of the things needed in my shop. I looked at your Instructable and I'm a bit confused on the wiring. Iknow that this project is old for you but can you give me a wiring guide?

For the switches to the radio and the power supply is what I'm speaking about.

Hello, congratulations on your bombox, I did one a week ago, but I have some doubts.
You can not send the complete schematic, because I see that the PSU is always connected to the battery, is not that bad?
I'm a HIFI builder and I call myself Blink.

Hi Scott, Thanks for the great video. I have built this partially, as in without the battery back up. Is there a way to use Li-Ion battery or any such equivalent to just make the Head unit remember time & last used source?

Excellent, i will do it. tanks greatscott!
