Intro: Make Your Own Mountain House Meals for Under Fifty Cents a Serving

Robert Studer "The Recycled Prepper" teaches you how to make your own Mountain House single serving style meal's for under fifty cents per serving. All you need is recycled Koo-Aid or any type of single serving juice pouch made of Mylar.

Food vacuum sealer and a package of your favorite side dish whether its noodles or rice.

STEP 1: Preparing Your Mylar Juice Pouches

Preparing the pouches:

1)cup top off

2) Wash & Dry

3) look for where the hole is to punch the straw through the pouch. There is plastic in and around the hole on the inside. Remove all plastic so it doesn't get in the food.

STEP 2: Preparing the Side Dish Mix

Preparing the side dish mix

1) Get a bowel and strainer or sifter

2) Open mix and pour into strainer that is over top of the bowel

3) Using a spoon stir mix so as to separate the powder into the bowel below thus leaving only noodles or rice in the strainer.

STEP 3: Fill Pouches With Flavor Powder

Now that the noodles or rice and flavor powder are separated spoon equal portions of the powder into 4 of the pouched. This should give even distribution of flavor mix between the 4 pouches.

STEP 4: Add Noodles to Pouches

Add noodles to the pouches.

STEP 5: Seal Pouches With Vacuum Food Sealer

Seal pouches with vacuum food sealer. Now you are done.

You can use whatever prepackaged side dish you want whether it be noodle, rice or potato based.

Put some in your Bug-Out Bag for emergency rations.

is there a substitute for vacuum sealer?
I'm willing to bet you could put hardtack pellets, jerky or salted beef, and dried veggies into the packs instead if you want to make it with the basics, instant stew. Or oatmeal, hazelnuts, and dried berries. A lot of different things could be done. This is a great idea.

That's really cool that reuse old Kool-aid pouches for that, and who doesn't love the price point? Thanks for sharing, especially if anything should happen.

Thank you. I have more great recycled prepping projects to come. My local prepping community started calling me "The Recycled Prepper" Did you check out the emergency blanket made from ship bags https://www.instructables.com/id/Chip-Bag-Emergency-Reflective-Blanket/ ?
