Introduction: Make Your Own Silicon Mold

About: Hello all!!!! A warm Welcome and It's a pleasure to have you here. Art and Craft is my passion .I love experimenting new and creative ideas.

Wouldn't you just love to have your own flexibility to choose the size and design of the mold for your clay projects.

I came across this really easy way of making a silicone mold. You can quickly make casts of anything you want which is solid.

As the Silicon sets fast, you can get your mold ready in no time.

Materials Used:- Get your Silicon Sealant from amazon (affiliate link)

  • Silicon Sealant
  • Baby oil
  • Object which you want to make the cast off
  • Cornflour

Visit http://rajiscrafthobby.blogspot.in/2017/03/make-your-own-silicon-mold-mould.html

Step 1:

This is the silicon sealant and the model i used to make the cast off.

Step 2:

Carefully remove the required amount of silicon.

Step 3:

The Silicon would be very sticky. So use cornflour to knead it.

Take some cornflour and mix it with the silicon.

Step 4:

Knead it untill it forms a smooth lump.

Step 5:

You can also add colour to it.I have added pink acrylic paint.

Step 6:

Add little bit of baby oil to knead, so that it doesn't stick to you fingers.

Step 7:

Shape the silicon and slowly press down the model.

Step 8:

Press firmly and see to it that all the details of the model are captured, but also take care that you don't push too deep and make the base weak.

Step 9:

Allow it to set for around 15 to 20 minutes.
Once dried, remove the model.

Your mold is ready to be used.

Nice tips. I'm interested in the last picture with the finished cast. What did you use as the casting material?

You said in the last step to 'allow it to cool down' for 15 minutes. How hot does the process get. I have never noticed silicone getting hot or even warm while curing. Maybe I just don't have enough experience with the substance.
