Introduction: Make a Custom Bike Stand

About: I like photography and woodworking, cooking is fun sometimes :-)

Here is a bike stand project that can stand up any bike, because it is very easy to change the size.

Step 1: Measure Your Tire

My tire is 2" wide, (Although it doesn't look like it in the picture.) So I added a 1/4 inch.

The height of my stand is about 3/4 the length of my tire, and 1/2 the height.

Step 2: Cut the Boards

I have 3" x 1/2" Pine boards to use.

Number 1 is the first board, and the one that holds the horizontal (2,3,4,5) boards together. It is 3" by, in my case, 2 1/4".

Numbers 2 and 3 are the boards that are keeping the tire from turning left and right. They are both 3" by 1/2 the diameter of your tire. (About 10")

Number 4 goes on the other end of numbers 2 and 3 to keep them from bending outward. In my case it is 3 1/4" because it needs to overlap numbers 2 and 3.

Number 5 keeps the stand from tipping sideways. should be about 15-20" long.

Numbers 8 and 9 are on top of number 5 in the picture, they hold the upright supports on. they should be 1/4 the height of your tire.

Numbers 6 and 7 are the upright suports. they should be bigger than the others by about 2", in my case 7".

Step 3: Putting 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 Together

With 1" screws, Screw number 1 onto the end of number 2. Do the same with 3 on the opposite side.

As shown in picture 3, screw numbers 4 and 5 onto the bottom of 2 and 3.

Next step, I don't want these too confusing!

Step 4: Finish It

Screw numbers 8 and 9 onto the end with the longer support, (#5) also the side with piece number 1.

Finally, screw the upright supports onto the insides of 8 and 9. then you are done!

Step 5: Done!

Now you can park your bike somewhere and save those grips from getting shredded!
