Introduction: Make a Earphone Holder for $1
It's always frustrating to carry earphones with us and it's even more frustrating when the earphones get tangled. So I figured out an ingenious way for carrying earphones with you wherever you go without tangling and still remain compact. The best part about this holder is that it costs only a dollar. So lets get started!
Step 1: Things You'll Need
You'll need:
1. Measuring tape
2. Screw driver
3. Colored thread
4. Some paints
Step 2: Measuring Tape Teardown
Now you'll need to remove all the screws from the tape and remove it's back. After doing that, take the inner wheel and take off the tape from it (see the video to understand better).
Step 3: Making the Holder
Now cut the top and the bottom part and sand it (using sand paper) until smooth. Also make a hole in the middle of the piece which has an extrusion. Now we'll make the lock. For the lock, we require a thread. If you want to make it more elegant you can use colored threads.
Pass the thread through one of the pieces and make a knot. Now place the wheel and close the back. While screwing, take the second end of the thread and place it in the path of the thread. So when you screw the back, the thread will also screw along with it.
Step 4: Getting the Tension Right
After you've screwed the back, we now need to put some tension on the spring. Rotate the spring (ideally about 4-5 times) and place the metallic end on the thread. This will act as a lock.
You're done! Now you just need to place the earphones and see it retract inside. I would suggest you to have a look at the video first so that you'll understand better.
Step 5: You're Now Almost Done
You're almost done. To make it look great you'll need to paint it with colors of your choice. Sky is the limit, so you can do all sorts of creative stuff. Just make it look better! :D
That's all folks! Thanks for hanging around.
