Make a Wind Powered LED Light Show

Step 1:

What you will need                                                                                                                                                                                                          24" pvc pipe                                                                                                                                                                                                                            24 volt stepper motor                                                                                                                                                                                                          red & green light strip [or any colors you choose                                                                                                                                                         4- #6 x 1-1/4" bolts & nuts                                                                                                                                                                                                 2 ft. 1/2" copper pipe  & 1/2" copper tee                                                                                                                                                                                                      tubing cutter                                                                                                                                                                                                                          j-b weld                                                                                                                                                                                                                               glue [shoe goo]                                                                                                                                                                                                                     drill & #6 drill bit                                                                                                                                                                                                                        sand paper [80 grit]                                                                                                                                                                                                    silicone                                                                                                                                                                                                                         sheet aluminum or plastic [for the tail]                                                                                                                                                                         spray paint [optional]                                                                                                                                                                                                      First cut a piece of 3" thin-wall pvc to a 24" length mark the center & draw the blade design, cut out the blade with a jigsaw, sand the rough edges, drill a 5/16" hole on the center mark, mark & drill 2 # 8 holes 2-1/2" apart for the 24 volt stepper motor[ i can sell you one], 

Step 2: Stepper Motor

cut a 2" long piece of copper tube, with j-b weld glue it onto the gear on the stepper motor, let set 24 hrs., bolt the motor to the back side of the blade with 2 nuts & bolts, cut a 6" piece of copper tube [down pipe] and glue it into the tee, cut a 16" piece of copper tube [tail boom], cut out a tail from the aluminum sheet, drill 2 holes and bolt it to the copper pipe, glue the tail boom to the tee, glue the copper pipe on the stepper motor to the tee, 

Step 3: Finished

cut a piece of red & green light strips 15 leds long, connect 2 of the wires from the motor to one of the light strips and the other 2 wires to the other strip [it does not matter which wires], peel the peel & stick backing off the strips and stick them to the front of each side of the blade, you might need some glue over the top of the strip because the glue on the strips is not very good, put a dab of glue on the nuts to keep them from working loose, cut a piece of 3/4" steel conduit 8 ft. long [ tower] and bury it 18" deep, place the light show down pipe in the top of the tower, it should start lighting up at about 10 mph. paint the tail if you like. cover the light strips with a thin layer of silicon to protect from the weather. this lightshow and other color combinations are available on Ebay at this link http://www.ebay.com/itm/160959250514?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
