Introduction: Make an Air Conditioner Perform Even Colder!

I used the cold condensate water from one of my air conditioners to super cool it's condenser coil. I used a length of silicone tubing to direct the cold water onto the condenser fins. The tubing I secured to the condenser fins but making aluminum wire loops and pressing into the fins.

It is important to have the air conditioner running to get a proper gradient for the the condensate drain tubing. All the water must run out of the indoor evaporator unit.

Step 1: Getting the Cold Water to Have a Greater Surface Area.

I took a piece of an old towel and secured it to the condenser coil at the end of the tubing. The cloth gets soaked with cold water and the condenser fan draws ambient air over it thereby causing rapid cooling of the refrigerant.

Step 2: Excellent Cooling Improvement.

To improve airflow I cut the cloth into a horizontal strip. This way it behaves like a drip curtain to allow the cold water to percolate into the fins and allow air to pass freely.

On low power Eco mode my air conditioner now cools fantastic on a hot day. This simple mod allows for energy to be reclaimed from the cold condensate water.
