Introduction: Make Your Own Wax Paper

For my latest project I was in need of some wax paper, but a quick look through my pantry found that there was no wax paper to be found, so I decided to make my own.

Step 1: Supplies

Here is what I used to make my wax paper

Tissue paper

Copy paper

an old candle

a towel

A hot pan

Step 2: Crush Some Candles

I needed to get some usable wax so my first project was to crush some candles.

I put my candle in a Ziploc bag, and then I used a hammer to crush the candle into small pieces of wax

I then used the small pieces and scattered them around the tissue paper.

Step 3: Prep for Melting

The next step was to get everything ready to melt

I layered the tissue paper and the wax between a sheet of copy paper and a towel to make sure that the wax didn't burn or get on anything important.

Then I heated up a pan so it was just warm to the touch. (It is recommended that you use an iron but I did not have one handy at the time). If you use a pan method be sure to keep watch on the pan. You do not want to forget about it and burn through the bottom!

Step 4: Melt

Now I set the warm pan gently on the copy paper and held it the, moving it around gently, for about 10 seconds.

When I pulled the pan up the Wax had completely melted.

Step 5: Let Wax Cool

Wax dries fast, but before moving make sure the wax is completely dry. Finally I had my very own wax paper to use!
