Introduction: Makedo Transformer

About: Makedo is a series of safe cardboard construction tools purposely designed for kids to imagine and build the world they want to see.

Join the battle against waste with this Makedo creation. Instead of buying that new toy, you can make it yourself!

In a few short actions our Transformer changes from a truck into an imposing robot. Follow these instructions to build your own Transformer out of reused packaging from around the home. We've used Makedo parts available at mymakedo.com to connect it all together.

Step 1: Find

Find materials from around your home to make this Transformer. We've sourced:

Body:
1 x tissue box

Arms:
1 x biscuit tray
4 x bottle lids

Legs:
2 x coffee cup and lid
2 x yogurt tubs

Head:
1 x small box
1 x cardboard sheet
2 x bottle caps

Step 2: Connect

To make the arms of your Transformer, cut your plastic biscuit tray in half. Use the Makedo Safe-saw and punch holes on both ends of the half cut plastic tray and also on 4 bottle lids. Connect the lids to the pre-punched holes of your plastic tray using Makedo Re-pins and Re-clips. This will be the wheels of your vehicle when it transforms.

Step 3: Build

Connect one wheel of each arm to either side of the tissue box with Makedo Hinge, Re-pins and Re-clips.

Step 4: Connect

To make the legs of your Transformer, position Makedo Hinges on one end of the tissue box and connect a yogurt tub to each Hinge. Ensure that the hinges are positioned so that the yogurt tubs can swing 180 degrees to sit on top of the tissue box.

Step 5: Build

To complete the legs, connect the coffee cup and lid to the yogurt tub with Makedo Re-pins and Re-clips.

Step 6: Connect

Your Transformer is almost complete. To make the head, wrap a piece of card around the smaller box and connect it with one Makedo Re-pin and Re-clip on either side, near the bottom corner. We’ve added bottle lids to create a more mechanical look to our Transformer.

Step 7: Build

Connect the head to the body using Makedo Re-pins and Re-clips.

Step 8: Complete

Your Transformer is complete! Decorate it by adding a plastic tray as a chest plate and drawing more gears or adding stickers to its body. It’s now ready for action.
