Introduction: Making a Silver Aluminum Wire Ring
This tutorial will take you from the beginning to the end of making your own silver aluminum wire ring. It is pretty easy to do.
Step 1: Making a Silver Aluminum Wire Ring
The first thing you need to do is cut a piece of wire that is at least 6” long. You may actually use longer pieces. It just depends on how many times you want to wrap the wire around, and of course your ring size.
Step 2:
Next, lay out the wire under the mandrel at the ring size you want.
Step 3:
Next, bend the wire up as pictured. I try to make them as even as possible, but it is not necessary. Close is fine.
Step 4:
Now bend the two wires from the upward position, in the opposite direction around the mandrel.
Step 5:
When you are finished bending the wire around the mandrel, you should end like this. If you have extra wire left, you can either wrap around again or cut the excess off.
Step 6:
You will need this tool next. This tool is called a “Round Nose Pliers.”
Step 7:
Next you will grab on of the straight end pieces of wire. You will turn the wire, wrapping it around the round nose part of the pliers, making a loop. You will do this on both sides of the ring.
Step 8:
It does not matter if your hoops are the same size. Be creative and see what you end up with, and have fun!

How sturdy of a ring does aluminum make? I've only used silver and copper scraps to make these, but I like the idea of making something light weight with the aluminum, too.

Actually, they are pretty strong....Yes, they can bend, but they seem to hold up nicely....You can even hammer the metal to make it stronger if you want....Also, gives it a nice design...

These are a lot of fun to make - there are so many variations once you have the basic idea down!
