Introduction: Making a Large Set of Bonsai Soil Sieves

Step By step pictorial on the construction of my new set of soil sieves.

Step 1: Cut Down 2x3 Into 2 Foot Sections

You will need
3 - 2"x3"x8' Wood Planks
1 - 2'x2'  1/4 Hardware cloth sections sold by the foot at my local Orchard supply
1 - 2'x2'  1/8 Hardware cloth sections sold by the foot at my local Orchard supply
1 - Small roll screen for smallest size sieve
Saw
Staple Gun/staples
Powered Drill/screwdriver
Wood Screws

With a chop saw or miter box cut down your 2x3x 8 feet into 2 foot sections.

Step 2: Drill Pilot Holes and Screw Together Frames

My friend Aron helped my cutting down the planks drilling pilot holes (so the wood doesn't split), and screwed the frames together while I began stapling.

Step 3: Staple Hardware Cloth to Bottom

Making sure you pull the screen tight, staple around all edged until secure. Trim and excess hanging off edge.

Step 4: Finished

And now you have a large set of soil sieves...
My afterthoughts were...
Perhaps a little too big ( they are heavy without any soil so I'm not sure how easy they will be to use.
If I wanted to spend more time I would screw down some metal covering for the edge of the screen, I'm afraid i'll cut myself on the screen edge.
