Introduction: Mario Brothers Piranha Plant Earrings!
Piranha Plant Earrings!
I absolutely love Mario Brothers.
And I absolutely love geek inspired crafts.
These Piranha Plant earrings are my favorite to date!
Step 1: Supplies
Let's make some.
You will need:
RED, GREEN and WHITE polymer clay
1 toothpick cut in half
2 Earring studs (and backs)
hobby knife
Step 2: Step 1: RED
Roll 2 red balls.
Mine were 4 grams each and about the size of a large marble.
Cut out a notch with the hobby knife...so they look like pacman.
Take the earring back and gently push it in the open notch.
Push it barely under the surface and smooth the clay over it.
Careful not to push it in too deep or it will not go
through the ear lobe far enough to put the back on.
Smooth it out.
Repeat for the other side.
Step 3: Step 2: GREEN
Now for the greenery.
You will need...
2 mini marshmallow sized pieces.
2 tubes
4 leaves
Take a thin snake of green and roll it flat...
Add to the top edge of the marshmallows to make a planter pot...
Or a pipe?
Now take those short tubes and cut a toothpick in half.
Push a pick through each tube.
Insert the blunt end into the pipe piece.
With the sharp point ready for the head.
Step 4: Step 3: RED AND GREEN
Insert the toothpick through the red head. Make sure it is going to pierce
through the main part of the head and not come out the mouth.
Pinch and smooth on the leaves to the sides of the tubes.
Sometimes lightly scoring the clay helps it adhere easier.
Step 5: Step 4: WHITE
Now the white.
Make a thin snake.
And give that open mouth some lips?
And add some spots on the back of the head.
I did 3. Repeat for the other side.
Bake in the oven according to package directions.
I baked mine at 275* F for 25 minutes.
Let them cool completely and admire.
Now add on those earring backs...or stick them right into your ear!
Step 6: Wear in True GEEK Fashion!
And no matter how you wear your hair,
they will look amazing!
Just like a little piranha plant biting your ear.
You could add teeth and a tongue...but they wouldn't show.
You will get lots of attention too!

Brilliant!

Are they heavy? Polymer clay usually gets kind of heavy on the ears every time I make them.
